The Official S3 Skeeball League Rules
How we get our Skee on.

Game Play
See word definitions below for clarification.
1. A MATCH consists of two teams playing 9 GAMES. In each GAME, every player on the team will roll one FRAME (throwing 9 balls) Every team member present and able to play must roll at least one full FRAME each GAME to get their personal FRAME SCORE. The top 8 scores of the team will count each GAME towards the TEAM GAME SCORE for determining which team won the game.
MATCH = 9 FULL GAMES
GAME = EACH PLAYER ON THE TEAM THROWS 1 FULL FRAME
FRAME = 9 BALLS THROWN TO GET A PERSONAL FRAME SCORE
FRAME SCORE = EACH PLAYER’S SCORE AFTER THROWING THE 9 BALLS
TEAM GAME SCORE = THE TOP 8 SCORES FROM THE TEAM FROM A GIVEN GAME
2. All GAMES won and lost will count towards the team’s record. So if you lose the first 8 GAMES, but win the 9th, your record for that night would be 1-8. Plus, 2 bonus points will be awarded to the team that wins the MATCH.
3. Subs may be used as needed. Since you don’t need subs given the way we play, you may only bring them if needed to be fair to those that paid to play. If your team has less than 8 players for a MATCH, you will be allowed to have players roll more than once in a GAME, but will need to rotate which players roll twice during the match. No player can roll more than 2 FRAMES per game. A minimum of 8 FRAME SCORES will be recorded per GAME.
4. There are 6 lanes all side by side at Sluggers. There are no rules on which team must roll on which lanes. Just find an open lane when you still have to roll in that game and go for it!
5. Balls must be thrown from behind the lane with both feet on the ground. You cannot bounce balls off the top nets and into the holes to score points. You will get a zero for the game if you throw and violate these rules.
6. If a ball is thrown and comes back to the thrower, it may be thrown again.
7. Because we're using some pretty retro machines and the scores displayed are not always completely accurate, all players are required to either keep track of their own FRAME SCORE and also have a "spotter" keeping track. This league requires all players to provide honest scores, so be honest please. Cheating in a skeeball league gets you nothing but bad karma.
8. To count your FRAME SCORE, drop the zero from the end of each point you make. For example, if you make a 50 pointer, count it as 5. A 20 pointer, count that as 2. Etc. This makes it easier for you to count up your FRAME SCORE. Also, this is how you report your score to the scorekeeper.
8. After rolling your balls for the GAME and consulting with your score checker, you will report your FRAME SCORE to the League Coordinator standing next to the skeeball machines. Go over there and say your team color and score and show your wristband. If you are on the green team and score a 24, say Green 24. Then you wait until it's announced that the current GAME is over and the next GAME has begun before you roll again and report another FRAME SCORE.
Winning, Losing & Playoffs
1. Every night, each player on the winning team of each MATCH will be awarded with a FREE beer!
2. At the end of the season, a winner will be crowned after sweeping their way through the playoff finals tournament. For playoffs, teams will be seeded based on regular season records. Regular season wins and loses are not determined by which team won the MATCH, but by the GAMES won or lost.
Sportsmanship
1. Even though we totally get that you’re here to skee your way to the championship, all teams will be required to introduce themselves to their competition for the night. Even if we didn’t require it, we assume that you would have done this anyways...
2. After the match, line up like back in the t-ball days and walk the line, saying “good game, good game, good game, good game.” Then eat some orange wedges and drink Capri Sun.
3. We'll keep this short and sweet because it goes without saying. This is a fun, social league. Any unacceptable behavior, cursing, insulting, or anything determined by S3 staff to take away from the low-key meaning of the league WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Of course winning is cool, but seriously, skeeball is a very chill league, so getting worked up over this doesn't even make any sense. Just come and have a good time over some beers! S3 reserves the exclusive right to remove any player from the league that violates our code of good sportsmanship and will not provide a refund. We can't imagine any of you doing any of these things though.
